About Tony Barker
My expertise is transformational thinking. I use martial arts concepts to help young people make the transition from school to the workplace, and first-time supervisors shift from employees to leaders.
I’m a black belt in Kajukembo, a former manager of businesses from manufacturing to radio (both corporate and “mom and pop” operations), and have been performing music and comedy for over thirty years on stage and in radio. I feel strongly that my combination of business experience, martial arts “mystique” and entertainment value will place me in a rare position to be of useful service to young people and the businesses that hire them.
I would like to gratefully acknowledge my Instructor, Master James Cox of Premier Martial Arts. He’s been a friend and mentor for over twenty years, and I strongly encourage anyone in the Big Country area to enroll and particularly enroll your kids. In my opinion, having Mr. Cox in your child’s life is the single biggest advantage you can give your kids. His Abilene number is (325) 676-2696.
Tony Barker – Speaker & Instructor
The thing that makes Martial Arts in the Workplace such a powerful presentation is the diversity of my background.
Here it is in manageable chunks:
In the late 80’s I installed an automated production line in a manufacturing plant, retraining the workers without losing a single job in the process. In both corporate and mom-and-pop environments I’ve managed radio stations, manufacturing facilities, tons of special events large and small, and run my own entertainment company for over a decade.
I’ve done stand-up comedy, morning show radio, master of ceremonies, and my own seminars, as well as played professional music in a number of bands and styles, from solo acoustic songwriting events* in high-end listening rooms to headlining biker festivals with my country/rock band.
I’ve taught First Aid and Adult CPR for the American Red Cross, Respiratory Safety for 3M, Forklift Operations for Caterpillar, Drivers Training for the U.S. Air Force, performance and songwriting seminars (both my own and as a panelist for the Texas Music Coalition), and I’m currently an instructor at Premier Martial Arts in Abilene, where I also serve as the Program Director.
Our school teaches a concept called Black Belt Excellence. It’s a mindset that is almost universally applicable, teachable, and VERY powerful. It’s the central concept behind Martial Arts In The Workplace, and when introduced in a fun, upbeat way, has the potential to immediately impact the quality of life for those who incorporate it.
Please contact me today if you know of a group that can benefit from this kind of experience. Thank you.
